Why be excellent and outstanding?

MA’AM ELVI, OUR COLLEGE Secretary and Assistant Dean, told me yesterday that my essay was well-written; that it has no grammar errors and the thoughts are coherent. (This is different from the essay yesterday.) However, she advised me to delete some parts, which ruin the quintessence of my strongly heartrending article.

The essay question is “What is the significance of excellence and being outstanding in today’s society?”

Below is my essay answer…

“The future is in the sky!”

Pragmatically speaking, to gain recognitions, certificates and medals, which one may use in his portfolio, are just the bonuses in the life of an outstanding and excellent student. The dulcet veracity is that the significance of excellence and being outstanding in today’s society is to see a future in the sky.

Being excellent and outstanding, as I delineate it, means to progress in one’s chosen field and to do your job conscientiously without anticipating any gains. This will ensue a leader, a writer or journalist who works not for the sake of sinister agendas but for the love for what he/she does. It’s because it makes him/her happy; it makes him/her feel complete.

Additionally, to be responsible for your obligations and not become a student who’s “missing-in-action”, to devote your time for the organization where you belong yet still having the time to fulfill your duties as a student being sent to school, to be honest about your faults, to accept your weaknesses, to be credible about the truth and to be fair in showing all angles in news unlike a journalist who publicizes purely pessimistic things about the university, but also to be brave and not purely act as a marionette to the officials, to abide to the “law of objectivity”.… these are some of the most important pointers that an excellent and outstanding student has to also possess, especially in journalism.

This is very significant in today’s society since the YOUTH, who are the STUDENTS, are the HOPE of the future – just like what Dr. Jose Rizal said. If we practice excellence and being outstanding as early as now, diminutively, we will change the way things go. The changes we instigate shall make the world excellent…

Then the future will be seen in the sky – soaring high!

Gee, tomorrow, I’ll discuss the words that were omitted. (Only one step at a time... *chortle*)
