On the Philippine police shooting a mother and son incident in Paniqui, Tarlac — Dracarys and my twisted sense of justice

This video of the fatal police shooting incident that murdered a mother and son in Paniqui, Tarlac, originally appears on GMA News YT channel, among other sources, and the storyis explained in English on Channel News Asia written by Gabrielle Andres, among other sources.

MY SOLUTION TO ALMOST everything is doing nothing. Though I’ve been enchanted by the concept of Katniss Everdeen—the symbol, the one voice of rebellion that will change the world—it’s just my default mode to meet people in the middle. In life I’ve learned I can’t defend my rebellious team if I don’t have the favor of the management. So, it’s necessary to win both sides by doing nothing. And contrary to popular belief, doing nothing requires every ounce of energy in our body. While many think that it makes you an enabler, sometimes a tremendous amount of power lies in remaining balanced. In fact, my friend Marjorie is someone rather close to being a Katniss Everdeen or even a Thatcher, while I take more of the Elizabethan path.

But events like this can trigger my inner Targaryen. A Hitler. Or a mad Jesus.

The sun and the clouds

THE SUN PEEKS THROUGH the sky curtain of gray fluffy cotton as the clouds persist to repress it. Impossible. It’s a view of a struggle I see each morning. In my seat. Through the window. At my new office. And today is my second Monday here.

They say I suffered from a so-called separation anxiety during my first week of being disconnected from my previous company. Specifically on my first two days. On my second day, I almost got myself into trouble, thanks to my impulsive stupidity or stupid impulsiveness. Whichever is right and more appropriate. Feeling empty and guilty of some nature, as though I have left a mission, an unfulfilled purpose. And an agreement left unspoken. Maybe I should earnestly thank God for the odds have always been in my favor. I was saved from the penalty that my think-about-others-before-yourself-first attitude could have caused me. I’m okay now. I’m right where I want to be. At least that’s what I feel. On my second week. And in the years to come. I’m right where I want to be.

End of Facebook cartoon craze

"People changing their Facebook profile pictures to their childhood cartoon characters could be more hazardous for children if done with a different psychological rationale…"

…and how that rationale can be as immature as the ignorance of some Christians (Photo credit: http://fc07.deviantart.net).
TODAY, DECEMBER 7, IS the back-to-normal day for Facebook users’ profile pictures. Heartbreaking videos about babies or children molested, beaten, and tossed around by their parents, uncles or aunts, stepfathers or stepmothers, or any relatives could have instigated the campaign against child abuse, which has been spread through different wall posts; thus conning Facebook users to change their profile pictures to cartoon characters until yesterday. Meanwhile, according to Facebook users who participated in this campaign, embracing the innocence of a child by putting their favorite cartoon character will, perhaps, raise awareness for child abuse and alleviate everybody’s heart. The focal point: stopping child abuse.

(And cartoon characters could help, right?)

Oftentimes, cartoon characters are associated with children because childhood is the peak of fondness to images that resemble such. Just like Coy-coy, my nephew, who stashes right to the computer once he sees such images. A child like my nephew cares nothing about the world but to play and be happy watching his favorite cartoon.

“Minor minor” photo shoots after a “major major” hostage-taking

JUST ALMOST 24 HOURS prior to the moment that Venus Raj, Miss Philippines-Universe who emerged as Miss Universe 4th runner-up, answered in front of the raucous crowd in Las Vegas last August 24 with the statement, “I can say that there's nothing major major problem that I've done in my life and so and so,” an ex-policeman armed with an M16 rifle boarded a public bus and held 25 people hostage in Manila, the capital of the Philippines, leading to a “major major” loss of lives.

Newspapers reported that Rolando Mendoza, 55, was among five officers who had been filed with theft, extortion and grave threats last year, causing his service termination. The dismissed policeman in a way demanded for his reinstatement by apprehending the busload of 21 Hong Kong tourists and four Filipinos; thus leading to a torment, which ended in bloodsheds seen on live television.

Blank, give me a good night-kiss

LOOKING AT NOWHERE, I see nothing; yet, I hear everything. My sleep has been disturbed!

The storm is ripping over the city, gushing torrents of wind that turn tree branches like frothy feathers. Few but stretched drops of rain strike the rooftops, producing canon roar of metals, slammed by artillery fire that spats to the ground—typhoon Basyang raised a storm signal in Metro Manila; it is certainly damaging the area.

Here in Makati, psychologically speaking, the sound of the wind is startling me. This is actually the very first instance in my life that I am experiencing such trepidation because, perhaps, I am away from my hometown and my biological relations.

Conversely, I would like to know if Neil, my roommate, is already home. However, I can't. It's very dark in the room, and even the dim light, which I and my roommate never turn off, is not lighted. From this, I gather now that the electric current is down. I wouldn't want to wake him by asking from nowhere, "Hey, are you there?" (Of course, I presume he is sleeping. Posing such a question might mean intrusion to his presumed sleep on his bed at the upper deck.)

Rescuing a trapped P1i stylus

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- None can heed the screech from the constricted perforation of a stylus stranded inside a P1i yesterday.

Well, how can a stylus screech anyhow?

I woke up yesterday, checking if how many messages I received while I'm sleeping on the preceding night. And I don't habitually use a stylus when I unlock my keypads to check my messages. Perhaps, there had just been some force from a quadrant in this galaxy that I tried to pick the stylus from its hole in my phone.
