PROUDLY SPEAKING, THE ESET Smart Security and NOD32 Antivirus have been awarded by the AV Comparatives.org as “The Best Antivirus in Proactive Detection” for 2008. This award goes to the antivirus that can detect threats even before they get recorded in their virus definition database. ESET is the only one among 16 antivirus softwares that has been awarded with the “Advanced+” for detecting unknown threats (click here to see the proof).
However, there is just something with further results that is simply obnoxious…
ESET is the “Best Antivirus” for 2006 and 2007 (for verification, click on the hyperlinks.) Apparently, the company won the award for two consecutive years. (Though I’m not sure if which software won in the 2005.) Winning “The Best Antivirus Award” means that the software ranked high if not the first, in both retrospective and on-demand scanning. The retrospective results showed that ESET is number one because it’s the only one awarded with the “Advanced+”. However, the on-demand scanning results proved that something else is better than ESET. (For more details, click on the hyperlinks or if they are not working or invalid, directly visit the AV Comparatives site.)
Forlornly speaking, in the year 2008 ESET failed to withhold the title.(This is obnoxious!)
In the results of the 2008 tests, AVIRA Antivir is the "Best Antivirus" based on all test conducted in the past months.
Still, I’ll stick with ESET....
