Circumlocutory likeness of two dissimilar words

Two pieces of paper and a pen for writing in a contest such as a press con. The first paper will serve as your rough draft, which you may keep as a memento. The second paper will be submitted to the judge as your final copy, which could be your key to attaining victory.

HE STARES AT YOU with his dagger eyes. Then he lifts his fist, fleetingly stares at it, and his squeaking voice says, "You want this?"—my nephew's reaction when he gets annoyed...

Last week, I've seen Jonathan de Quiroz—former USC President in AUF and one of the few Suma Cum Laude and TOSP awardees, in the same school, who graduated in 2006 (to shorten the long description, “high-profile person”)—at the waiting contour of bus passengers. I approached him and he flashed a hesitating smirk while saying, “Hi!” Then he stuttered, "Uh… uh, I’m sorry. What's your name please?"

Oh Jesus, I have almost copied my nephew! (Just kidding...)

Anyhow, of course I established myself. Finally then, he remembered me. We sat together on the bus and talked with each other throughout the journey. We even rode the MRT because the bus carrying us was not that type, which travels the entire route to our actual destination (something that I actually abhor doing since the MRT, I suppose, is the public means of transportation for uncultivated amazons and barbarians). The conversation extended to the fact that I blog.

Then he asked me if was there no initial fear in me when I started my blog in 2008; a fear that nobody might be reading my entries. I said, "Well, my objective when I started my blog was just to write my sentiments—a selfish goal, I guess—and create an online memento, which I will leave to the people who might want to know me when my existence is just a history—regardless if I will win a plethora of readers or not. After all, it was just a scratch by then. The current best bonus, however, is seeing the blog statistics of that scratch and finding out that it has page hits by readers from The Netherlands, Taiwan, China, Canada, U.S., and even from New Zealand and of course, The Philippines. (The list, I hope, would continue growing. Inadvertently, however, the number of my Chinese readers decreased when Rolando Mendoza hijacked a bus and killed Hong Kong citizens. Well, I’m not even related to that “Mendoza.”)

Speaking of blog, I would like to welcome the fresh blog addresses of people I know back in college. Ryan, Margaret, Marjorie, and Trish now have their ColdExpress, Myxterymind, Jienious, and Writerish09, respectively. Also, Sucharade has her blog (Sushireyd), but I suppose she infrequently uses it. Perhaps, she's busy.

What I have noticed from their first entries was that they are explicating the rationales why they have chosen to start a blog—something I haven't thought back then. I confess I am enormously proud of them all.

Back then, I just impetuously created my blog after being “dethroned” from a sort of a title I have held for almost a year, and then published a first entry of which topic I based on a melancholic girl texting me about the death of her favorite actor. Then, if I'm not mistaken, I have republished an old entry I've written for a class blog too.

Surfing their blogs yesterday while I was logged in to my Facebook account, I found out that the college break is over! I was flabbergasted, so I impetuously confirmed the news with Emerlyn through my Facebook account. Then, she said yes.

The news is verified.

Additionally, I prattled with Emerlyn through Facebook's chat feature. Of course, our conversation consisted of multiple topics, one of which is also about blogging. She gave her blog address to me too. She warned me, however, that it was a crap.

I answered, "Lahat naman ng bagay, nagsisimula sa 'crap'." Anything starts from crap, innit? Thus, I could say that crap could be an indirect synonym of start. I know I’m technically incorrect, but things don’t always have to be technical, do they?
